The shotgun G further comprises first and second connecting members 7, 8 located on the top rib 1 and the barrel assembly 2, 6 respectively. The first and second connecting members 7, 8 are configured to enable the top rib 1 to be held in a precise mounting position on the barrel assembly 2, 6 prior to a manufacturing process for fixed securing the top rib 1 to the barrel assembly 2, 6. The top rib 1 may be secured to the barrel assembly 2, 6 by tinning, brazing or soldering. The shotgun G may be an over-and-under double barrelled shotgun.
