Female and male connectors

A female or male connector 1 comprising a terminal 10, an inner housing 20B which holds the terminal, an outer housing 20A relatively movable to the inner housing 20B, tubular first shield shell 30 integrated with the inner housing 20B, and an elastic member 80 which generates a resilient force. A counterpart male or female connector (2, figure 11) includes a terminal (110), a housing (120) which holds the terminal, and the tubular second shield shell (130) integrated with the housing. The first shield shell abuts against the second shield shell on the connector insertion direction side with insertion of the connectors and is pressed against the second shield shell by the resilient force of the elastic member. Preferably a tapered surface 31 is included to aid in insertion and extraction. The connector may also comprise protruding portions (35B, figure 15) to abut against a tapered surface on the counterpart connector.
