Method and device for providing driver assistance

The invention relates to a method for providing driver assistance whereby a driving or parking manoeuvre 6 of a vehicle 1 carried out without using a driver assistance system is detected using sensors (Fig.1, 20) of the vehicle i.e a manual driving operation, and an equivalent driving manoeuvre 8 which can be carried out with the assistance of a driver assistance system is computed. The detected driving manoeuvre and equivalent driving manoeuvre are evaluated or compared on the basis of at least one criterion and the result of the evaluation of the detected driving manoeuvre and equivalent driving manoeuvre is output. The criteria may include energy consumption, time duration, number of changes of direction, costs, wear of the vehicle, risk of accident or driver stress. Other aspects of the invention relate to a device, a computer programme and a central computer system which are configured to implement the method. The central computer system may contain data relating to the evaluation for a plurality of drivers.
