Zusammenfassung:Vehicle 104 uses dedicated short range communication (DSRC) transceiver 124 to receive safety messages from other vehicles 102, 106. An intersection assistor of a vehicle 104 determines the likelihood there will be space 130 on the other side of the intersection. A recommendation for proceeding to drive through the cross-road is displayed based on the likelihood. Safety messages may comprise the speed, heading and location of one of the other vehicles. The suggestion to drive through the junction may be based on the likelihood calculated from speed and heading values, and a stopping distance, determined by the intersection assistor. Additional safety messages may be received from a traffic signal 110 (vehicle-to-infrastructure, V2I) comprising timings of traffic lights. The recommendation may be based on the computed likelihood and whether the lights are changing from green to red. Other aspects concern a method and a computer readable medium. The invention aims to prevent tailback congestion obstructing intersections by deciding if there is an opening.
