Attachment for a handheld appliance

An attachment suitable for use with a hair styling apparatus has bristles with an oval cross-section. The attachment comprises a casing 44, 45 having an air inlet 12 for receiving airflow from a hair styling apparatus and a hair engaging member 16, 18 supported by the casing. The hair engaging member or the casing comprises an array of bristles 20 protruding therefrom, wherein each bristle within the array has an elongate form and an oval transverse cross-section (see fig. 7d). The array preferably comprises bristles arranged in parallel rows. The bristles may have a spherical portion 102 arranged at the tip. There may be two hair engaging members 16, 18 on the attachment, disposed side by side. Each hair engaging member may have an array of bristles with the same quantity of bristles thereon.
