A side air curtain Bag

An airbag assembly 100 for a motor vehicle is provided, said assembly comprising an airbag 4 and a deployable ramp 102 configured to unfurl with the airbag when the airbag is deployed. The ramp transitions from a stowed configuration, in which it is stowed with the airbag before deployment, into a ramped configuration when deployed. The ramp comprises a movable element configured to move in response to the deployment of the airbag from a first position in the stowed configuration, to a second position in the ramped configuration, the ramp having a thickness which increases when the movable element is in the second position, and the ramp is positioned and shaped in the ramped configuration to assist the airbag in riding over a component 28 of the vehicle as the airbag is deployed. The ramp comprises a tether connected to the movable element such that when the airbag is deployed the tether moves the movable elements from the first to second position. A component of a motor vehicle is also disclosed, the component being configured for placement on an interior surface of a vehicle cabin in the path of a deployable airbag (figures 15-18). The component comprises a body portion for coupling the component to the vehicle, and a movable portion.
