Activating a fuse

A communication system for communicating between a ranged weapon and a projectile 101 for that ranged weapon comprises a transmitter 100 associated with the ranged weapon and a receiver 104 associated with the projectile 101. The transmitter 100 is arranged to encode data to be transmitted to the projectile on an electromagnetic carrier wave 102, and to transmit that electromagnetic carrier wave 102 to the projectile 101. The receiver 104 is arranged to receive the electromagnetic carrier wave 102, and to decode data encoded in the electromagnetic carrier wave 102 to retrieve that data, the data being usable in the activation of a fuse of the projectile 101.
