Zusammenfassung:A process of controlling operation in a multi-cylinder engine 102 during start and low-load conditions. The supply of fuel to a first set of cylinders 106 108 110 112 is skipped for a pre-determined number of working cycles whilst a fuel-air mixture is supplied to a second set of cylinders and combusted for the pre-defined number of working cycles. The selection of the cylinders forming the first and second sets respectively may change during operation and the supply of fuel changes to the first set of cylinders after the pre-determined number of working cycles. Ignition may be executed in the first set of cylinders along with an air supply when the fuel supply is skipped. The number of cylinders in each set may vary dynamically during transient operation and may be based on load condition, speed condition or an external input to the engine. A control system for controlling this process has a sensor module detecting a start of operation of the engine or a low-load condition of the engine. An engine system comprises a multi-cylinder engine, a fuel-supply system, an ignition system, and the aforementioned control system.
