Zusammenfassung:	A method of operating an automotive system (100, Fig. 1) for powering a vehicle 105, the automotive system comprising an internal combustion engine (110, Fig. 1) equipped with at least a cylinder 125 having exhaust valves 510,520, the method comprising the steps of: detecting a deceleration of the vehicle 105; and activating an exhaust valve 520 of at least a cylinder 125 to direct compressed air into a high pressure tank 500 fluidically connected to the cylinder 125. The method may include the step of directing compressed air from the high pressure tank 500 to the the cylinder 125 when a torque request is detected.
