Zusammenfassung:Method that comprises: receiving consumption data S1 from at least one utility/smart meter associated with a property, the property having at least one device. Positive and/or negative consumption variations S2 indicative of switching appliances on or off are determined. At least one event by matching positive consumption variations with negative consumption variations S3 is identified. The least one event is grouped into at least one block based on occurrence of usage of a device S4. The at least one block is classified into at least one predetermined cluster associated with a device S5. This allows an occurrence and/or absence of usage of the at least one device S6 to be determined. The usage data may be compared with predetermined usage patterns S7 to determine normal or abnormal usage S8 and cause the output of an alarm signal S9.
