Zusammenfassung:Historical information specifying the memory available to a device at previous times is obtained, and a regression line (which may be a curve) is generated (e.g. using linear regression analysis) from the information. The regression line is extended into the future, e.g. based upon a standard error, in order to obtain a forecast of the available memory at the future time, e.g. using a line of best fit. A threshold value of the memory available to the device may be assigned, and a status of the device may be determined by comparing the forecast with the threshold value. Two threshold values (e.g. warning and critical) may be assigned and used in the comparison. The status of the device may be indicated by a user interface, e.g. representing the device using a colour. A rule to take action may be implemented based on the status of the device, e.g. setting an alarm to alert a user to a critical device status, or an instruction to archive data is actioned. Missing historical data may be interpolated (see fig. 8), and the interpolated data may be used in generating the regression line. The data may be video data.
