Control button retention mechanism

A device such as a power tool comprises a housing 105 having a passage defined therein and a first button 110 disposed outside the housing having a first button body, a first button arm extending through the passage into the body, and a first retention member 125 coupled to the first button arm. A body 120 disposed within the housing has a first opening 140 defined therein having a maximum width smaller than the maximum width of the first retention member so that the first retention member flexes inwardly when inserted into the opening and outwards after passing through. The first retention member may be a closed shape. A second button 115 may be provided having a second retention member 130 and the body may have a second opening 140. An agitator 160 may be coupled to the body and adapted to activate a control operation upon movement of the body. The first and second retention members may be separated by a divider 145 within the body. The first button may comprise a groove (415, Figure 4) disposed along the first button arm such that it is disposed inside the housing when the first button body is flush with an external wall thereof.
