Liquid chromatography analysis unit

A liquid chromatography analysis unit 100, configured for executing a predefined liquid chromatography analysis task, comprises a sample insertion compartment 102 configured for inserting a fluidic sample to be separated, where the fluidic sample is to be separated when executing the liquid chromatography analysis task. The unit also comprises a solvent accommodation section 104, which accommodates a predefined volume of at least one predefined solvent required for executing the liquid chromatography analysis task, and a sample separation unit 106 for separating the fluidic sample inserted into the sample insertion compartment upon applying a solvent and sample drive force. The unit may also comprise a detector 120 for detecting the separated sample. The unit may be a single-use disposable cartridge with a casing 112, insertable into a base station 150 for executing the predefined chromatography task. The base station may be provided with an analysis task identification unit 184 for identifying the cartridge, such as an RFID tag reader, and may have a locking mechanism 186 for locking the cartridge. Preferably, the base station has a sample drive force unit 114 for driving at least solvent in the cartridge.
