Zusammenfassung: | Disclosed is a method of operating an internal combustion engine 110 equipped with a turbocharger 230 and an exhaust gas recirculation pipe 500 fluidly connecting an exhaust gas line 275 to an air intake duct 205 upstream of a compressor 240 of the turbocharger 230. The method comprises the steps of determining a value of a parameter indicative of a temperature of an exhaust gas and actuating an internal recirculation strategy of the exhaust gas, if the determined temperature is lower than a predetermined threshold. The internal exhaust gas recirculation strategy comprises the steps of interrupting a flow of exhaust gas through the exhaust gas recirculation pipe 500 and opening an exhaust valve 215" during an intake stroke of a piston 140 of the internal combustion engine 110. The method prevents condensation forming when warm recirculated exhaust gas mixes with cold ambient intake air and may be used during cold start of the engine to speed up engine warm up. The temperature of a coolant can be used as the parameter indicative of the temperature of the exhaust gas. |
