Zusammenfassung: | An electrode (10) comprises a metal sheet (11) defining multiple through-holes (14), and a fluid-permeable layer (16) comprising fibrous and/or particulate electrically- conductive material and a polymer binder, which is to be bonded to a front surface of the metal sheet (11). In making the electrode (10), the front surface is subjected to an etching process to form multiple depressions (21) or blind recesses that do not extend through the metal sheet (11); placing the fluid-permeable layer onto the front surface to form an assembly; and subjecting the assembly to compression such that the fluid-permeable layer (16) bonds to the metal sheet (11) and protrudes into the through-holes (14) and into the depressions (21). No polymeric bonding layer on the metal surface is required, and the depressions (21) lead to satisfactory adhesion between the metal sheet (11) and the fluid permeable layer (16), and improved electrical properties of a fuel cell (25) that incorporates the electrode (10). |
