Zusammenfassung:	A friction component 1 for a clutch, preferably a friction disc, friction gear or friction plate. The friction component 1 comprises a metal substrate 2, preferably steel or cast iron, with a ceramic layer 3 thereon, preferably tungsten carbide (WC). The ceramic layer 3 has an outer facing friction surface 4 having pores 5 therein, at least some of the pores 5 in the friction surface 4 are filled or partially filled with an elastomeric material 6, preferably hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR). An adhesion promoter, preferably Cr, Ni, Ti, Co and/or W, may be used between the ceramic layer 3 and the metal substrate 2.
