Zusammenfassung:	A road warning system 101 for a road user comprises a first portion 103 configured to generate a first detection zone 111, a second portion 105 configured to be detected by the first portion and a third portion 115 operatively connected to the first portion 103, wherein the third portion is configured to provide a first indication (217a, figure 3C) to the road user when the first portion detects that the second portion is in the first detection zone. The first portion is preferably provided on a first vehicle that may be a lorry and the second portion is preferably provided on a second vehicle that may be a bicycle. The first indication may be provided when the first portion detects that the second portion is in the detection zone and the controller determines a change in the operational state of the first vehicle for example a change in the direction of the first vehicle. Also provided is a method of warning a road user using the road warning system of the invention.
