Zusammenfassung: | Controlling the operation of an air charging system for an internal combustion engine involves a multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) method. The method involves calculating an error between a target value and a plurality of output parameters and applying these errors to a linear controller 605, 610 and 615 to obtain a virtual input. These virtual inputs are then used to calculate a plurality of input parameters, which are then used to determine the position of a corresponding actuator in the air charging system. The input parameters are calculated using a non-linear mathematical model 620 such that each of the virtual inputs is in a linear relation with only one of the output parameters and vice versa. The air charging system may also comprise a turbocharger or a supercharger. |
