Zusammenfassung: | A control apparatus and method for optimizing the regeneration of an aftertreatment device 285, 295 in an exhaust pipe 275 of an internal combustion engine of a vehicle 10. The control apparatus comprises an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) 450 configured to collect data from a Global Positioning System (GPS) device 600 associated with the vehicle, and determine an instant for starting a regeneration of the aftertreatment device on the basis of the GPS data. The instant may be determined by calculating a physical threshold for starting regeneration, adjusting the threshold on the basis of the GPS data, and setting the adjusted threshold as the instant. The ECU may determine an index representative of the efficacy of regeneration in a time window equal to the duration of regeneration. The aftertreatment device may comprise a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) 295 and/or a Lean NOx Trap (LNT) 285. |
