Zusammenfassung:Method of transporting gas turbine engine 10 in an aircraft involves separating engine 10 into core 34 and fan case 36, fan case having an axis of symmetry 9 and a diameter perpendicular to said axis, rotating fan case 36 such that its axis of symmetry 9 is not parallel to the ground, and loading fan case 36 into aircraft through access an aircraft aperture e.g. loading bay / door. Core engine 34 may also be loaded. Fan case 36 may be rotated by 100 degrees, and may be rotated about its axis of symmetry by up to 45 degrees before being loaded. An apparatus is also described, including rotation 40 and loading devices. Loading device may be a fork-lift truck. Loading devices may also be provided for the core engine 34 and accessory storage.
