Zusammenfassung:	An apparatus and corresponding method feature a downwardly inclined vibrating 26 conveyor 16, with a liquid supply 28. Such may provide a film of lubricating liquid, such as edible oil, to help the transit of solid items in the oil, such as potato slices, down the conveyor 16. Also disclosed is second apparatus and method featuring a flume 4 with a sump 64, into which solid items in liquid are fed before being fed onto a transport surface 4. In this variant, which is static and non-vibrating, the liquid supply may lubricate the path of solid items in liquid, such as potato slices in edible oil, down the transport surface 4. The flume 4 may also provide a secondary function, in providing some degree of separation between the slices during conveying.
