Zusammenfassung:A carbon article formed as a brake disc is coated with an anti­oxidant composition comprising aluminium phosphate (produced by reacting orthophosphoric acid and aluminium hydroxide), a wetting additive, demineralised water, colloidal silica, silicon hexaboride, and boron. Typically, the antioxidant composition contains 5-25% aluminium phosphate, 0.1-1% wetting additive, 10-30% industrial methylated spirits, 25-45% demineralised water, 10-25% colloidal silica, 0.01-60% silicon hexaboride, and 0.01-30% boron. The composition may also comprise industrial methylated spirits. The antioxidant composition is applied over a cured primer coating composition to constitute an antioxidant system, wherein the primer composition comprises orthophosphoric acid, aluminium hydroxide, wetting additive, and demineralised water. Preferably, the primer composition contains 45-65% orthophosphoric acid, 5-15% aluminium hydroxide, 0.1-1% wetting additive, 20-45% water, colloidal silica, and industrial methylated spirits.
