Zusammenfassung:The invention provides a method and apparatus for identifying an individual. The apparatus further comprises at least one data-receiving device (400) for detecting the data-emitting device and receiving data therefrom when the data-emitting device is in the vicinity. The data-emitting device is configurable to be associated with a predetermined characteristic of the individual (e.g. his/her name). The data-emitting device could be an RFID tag, and could be located in the collar 202 of a shirt or blouse. There may be two tags, one at each end of the collar. The data-receiving device could be located at the entrance/exit of a building, or could be a hand-held scanner. A data input device could allocate the data emitting device to an individual. Independent claims are also included for garments having a data-emitting device located between two layers of material.
