Water filter

A water filter 200, suitable for use with ponds, comprises a filter chamber 220 having a cylindrical body with both upper and lower end walls. In use, the chamber is fed with water via an inlet 230 and cleaned water leaves the chamber through an outlet 240. The chamber is at least partially full of discrete filter media. A movable cutting member 290 is provided at the end of a radially extending arm 280, attached to vertical shaft 270 which extends through a hole 255 in the centre of the upper end wall 250. Short arms 285 are further provided on the shaft, to which agitation members 295 are attached. A handle 260 is attached to the vertical shaft to enable movement of both the cutting member and agitation members, moving the cutting members across the interior surface of the wall and the agitation members through the filter media, breaking the adherence of filter media to the interior wall and other filter media simultaneously.
