Zusammenfassung:An improved method for work-load management in a client-server infrastructure comprises setting request information in accordance with request semantics corresponding to a type of request, wherein the request semantics comprise different request types provided with different priorities during processing, including requests with a high priority in a standard request processing queue 270 and excluding requests with low priority from this queue when the server workload exceeds a threshold value. A first request type may represent synchronous requests with a high priority and a second type may represent asynchronous requests with a low priority. A third and fourth request type may be used to reprioritize an asynchronous request to high priority and a synchronous request to low priority respectively. Requests with low priority may be included in the queue when the server workload falls below the threshold, or the wait time of the request exceeds a threshold, or the request is reprioritised to high priority.
