Zusammenfassung:	A body 6 made of a metal or alloy which comprises a plurality of open pores 10 is densified by sealing the open pores 6 and then consolidating the body 6. The body 6 can be made by additive layer manufacturing, powder metallurgy, spray forming, metal injection moulding, casting, rolling or forging. Sealing can be by shot peening or coating the object with a layer of metal different from that of the body 6, with the material of the layer diffusing into the body 6, thereby forming a eutectic composition which melts. Consolidating can be by hot isostatic pressing.
