Zusammenfassung:	A dual graphic display unit, particular for a control button for a dashboard of a vehicle, has a display area with two display graphics 20, 30. The dual graphics may be overlapping and are selectable such that they are displayed either separately or together. The display unit comprises a polarising filter assembly (2, Fig .1) and a source of polarised illumination (3, Fig. 1) for backlighting the assembly with first and second orthogonally polarised illumination. The polarising filter assembly comprises first and second display elements having first and second polarising patterns, the polarisation of the patterns being orthogonal. When illuminated respectively with the first and second polarised illumination the filter assembly displays first and second graphic images 20,30. The display elements are formed on substrates which are substantially transparent or translucent to both polarisations. The display elements may be formed by printing the polarizing pattern in a polarising layer on the substrate.
