Trim element for a motor vehicle interior

A trim element 2 in the interior of a motor vehicle is composed of, for example, an air outlet grille cover, a loudspeaker cover, a decorative strip cover, a defrost cover or a holding cover. A separate thin walled moulding 11 made from a thermoplastic elastomer is provided between these covers and a bearer (T, figure 7A), possibly located on a dashboard, of the vehicle body. The moulding may have inwardly projecting portions 27-29 which are provided with orifices for fastening clips 30, screws 31 and centering clips 32. Circumferential projections (21, figure 1A) on the trim element may engage in matching channels (22) on the moulding. As a result of the interposed arrangement of the moulding, creaking or squeaking and other noises in the event of relative movements of the parts with respect to one another are to be avoided.
