Zusammenfassung:A method of producing a metal object by performing a net-shape or near-net shape manufacturing process to produce the object which is non-porous and has an average solute level which is at least equal to the average solute level of the metal before shaping, and then changing the solute level of the object. The method can be used to process objects made of titanium alloys by forming the object by metal injection moulding titanium powder, removing solute from the object, optionally homogenising the object, and then adding solute to the object. The solute can be oxygen, carbon, hydrogen or nitrogen. Solute can be removed by exposing at least part of the object to a fluid which comprises a chemical reactant such as an alkali earth metal which reacts differently with the solute and the metal. The fluid can also comprise a flux such as calcium chloride.
