Zusammenfassung: | An explosion-resistant connector 10 has a receptacle 15 having a female portion 60 and a first outer portion 77. A plurality of leads extends through the receptacle into the female portion. An adapter 20 has a hollow portion 100 through which the leads also extend, the adapter attaching to the first outer portion. A potting compound 160 is disposed in the hollow portion about the leads. If an explosion occurs, it occurs on an adapter side of the connector as opposed to a receptacle side of the connector. The adapter allows the connector to be mounted on a junction box wall 45. The connector may have a bore 30, and its counterpart 40 may have a nut 35 with a bore 135, so that a wire 145 may be added after the connector has been mated. A ring (103, Fig 2A) of spring steel may hold the potting compound in place, and a set screw 155 may hold the adapter on the receptacle. |
