Zusammenfassung: | A method of assisting with take-off from rest of a motor vehicle comprises setting an elevated engine idle speed based upon gear selection in a manual transmission 3. A transmission state module 5 determines via a transmission state sensor 7 whether an odd or even gear has been selected by a driver and if an even gear has been selected an electronic control unit 4 via a engine control unit 6 sets an idle speed of an engine 2 to a predetermined idle speed which is higher than a normal engine idle speed. If an even, e.g. second, gear is selected the control unit 4 provides a warning to the driver. The transmission 3 has a H-gate selector in which all odd gears are arranged in a first row and all even gears are arranged in a second row and a neutral gear sensor provides an output indicative of which gear selected and the control unit 6 sets engine speed based on the neutral sensor output. |
