Wand and handle assembly for a cleaning appliance

A wand assembly 6 for a cleaning appliance comprises a handle portion 25 having a channel (35, Fig 5), a tubular wand 26 received within the channel (35) and moveable relative to the handle portion 25. A locking means having a lock position and an unlock position prevents wand 26 from moving relative to the handle portion 25 when in the lock position. A release mechanism 28 is actuable to move the locking means from the lock position to the unlock position and is mounted to wand 26 such that the release mechanism 28 moves with the wand 26 when the wand moves relative to the handle portion 25. The release mechanism 28 is actuated when it is moved relative to the wand 26. Other identified components include handle body 31, handle 32, first end 38 of wand 26, groove 40, and window 63.
