Wind and solar power installation

An electricity generating installation comprising at least one wind turbine 2 for generating electrical power, at least one guiding vane 5 mounted adjacent to the wind turbine to direct airflow past the turbine, a photovoltaic panel 8 mounted on the vane and a control apparatus, where the control apparatus controls the position of the vane in response to monitored wind strength, wind direction, sun brightness and sun direction to maximise the electrical output of the system. Preferably the vane is mounted above the turbine and has an inverted aerofoil profile. There may be a further vane to one side of and below the turbine to direct airflow upwardly towards the turbine and a deflector vane on the opposite side to the further vane to direct airflow exiting the turbine. The installation may be positioned on a building rood, where the vanes direct airflow over the roof and towards the turbine.
