Zusammenfassung:	The optical system transfers light energy from a moving light source 1, to a common aperture (15, Figure 2a-b) which may be part of optical probe assembly 3 and which is independent of the location of the light source within a field of view. The light energy distribution is preferably substantially uniform over the area of the common aperture. The system may be used for the detection of lifetime decay of an excitation spot on a turbine blade 0, and the light energy may be luminescence, such as phosphorescence and fluorescence. The common aperture may lead to a photodetector 4 having photovoltaic cells.
