Zusammenfassung: | A server (16) having a stored database (18) of wireless nodes identifies fixed wireless nodes (6a, 6b, 6c) which are geographically dispersed and which broadcast a signal containing at least identification data. User equipment (2) determines a geographical location, and accesses data from the stored database (18). The user equipment (2) is arranged to monitor broadcast signals received using a first radio access technology, on receipt of an update request from the server (16), and to derive identification data and signal strength data of fixed wireless nodes (6a, 6b, 6c) from the received broadcast signals. The user equipment (2) transmits the data to the server (16) in order to allow the stored database (18) of fixed wireless nodes to be updated. This has an advantage that monitoring may be performed based on a requirement for updating the part of the stored database at the server (16) associated with the location of the user equipment (2). The user equipment may monitor based on availability of resources. The user equipment may determine its location based on signal strength or by a relative navigation system. |
