Zusammenfassung:A method is disclosed which comprises heating a carbon fibre body precursor at a substantially atmospheric pressure to above 1200°C in a furnace 108 in a first stage, expelling a stream of effluent gas outside the furnace, wherein the stream of effluent gas 121 comprises a cyanide, thermally oxidizing the cyanide, and heating the carbon fibre body precursor to a temperature of between 1600°C and 2400°C in a second stage. The effluent gas may be drawn by a steam vacuum. The effluent gas may be expelled by pumping a secondary inert gas into the furnace. The thermal oxidation may occur in an incinerator. Also disclosed is a system for transforming a carbon fibre precursor body into a carbon fibre body.
