Zusammenfassung:Methods and apparatus for expanding a tubular 110 with the aid of a compressive force. A tubular is run into a wellbore 100 and affixed at least two locations 120/130 spaced along the length of the tubular. A section of the tubular between the fixed locations is expanded outward radially with a rotary expander tool 140. The tubular is subject to an axial compressive force during expansion because of the two secured locations 120/130. The lower end of the tubular may be supported on the bottom of the well bore. The tubular can be expanded into frictional contact with a surrounding surface to secure it at the two locations. The tubular may be longitudinally corrugated. The expanded tubular can be used for multiple downhole functions such as completing multilateral junctions in a wellbore, patching apertures in a wellbore and lining a wellbore.
