Zusammenfassung:A baffle seal 50 for a thrust reverser of a gas turbine engine includes a seal body 56 of a resilient material which may be silicone rubber. The seal body 56 has a relatively flat central portion 64. A raised sealing rim 70 extends at least partially around the central portion 64. An outer periphery of the sealing rim 70 extends beyond an outer periphery of the central portion 64 so as to define an exposed sealing surface 74. The raised rim 70 may comprise a pair of divergent legs connected at their ends by central portion 64 the ends of the legs may be closed with a sealant such as room temperature vulcanizing silicone and a vent 76 may be provided to equalise the pressure with ambient pressure. The outer surface of the seal may be covered with a flexible, abrasion resistant material such as a polyester fabric. A backing plate 58 may be provided and may be made from an aluminium sheet; the plate 58 may be triangular and have curved lip 80 to receive edge 78 of the seal. The seal is intended to be used to prevent a pressure differential building across a transcowl assembly and so improve specific fuel consumption of the engine.
