Motor vehicle user customisation

The present invention relates to the field of customising the position or physical orientation of motor vehicle components to suit seated motor vehicle users of different sizes and personal ergonometric preferences or needs, and in particular to the automation of such customisation for a plurality of different such users. The vehicle 1 includes components 2, 4, 6, 8 that may be moved 10-17 by means of electric motors to physically customise the motor vehicle to suit the physical size of the driver and/or a preferred driving position of the seated driver. A control system is used to control the motorised movement of the movable components. A portable information storage device 30 includes a memory for storing user specific data relating to the physical size of the driver and/or a preferred driving position of the seated driver. A communication means 28 is provided by which the control system may in use communicate with the portable information storage device to access the user specific data. The control system is operative upon accessing the user specific data to move the motorised components 2, 4, 6, 8 to suit the physical size of the driver and/or a preferred driving position of the seated driver. The portable information storage device may use communicate using a USB interface.
