Zusammenfassung: | The invention concerns security documents having edge or corner reinforcing watermarks consisting of spaced bars 13a. If a planar security feature 15 such as a stripe or patch is applied over the watermarks then poor adhesion to the paper substrate results because the feature bridges the gaps between the bars and has little contact with the paper surface. The method involves forming a raised region 17, by increasing the grammage of fibres, which region joins the adjacent bars within the reinforcing watermark to form a smooth planar surface which is suitable for a subsequent application of a planar security feature. |
