Zusammenfassung:An airbrake actuator 20 comprises a cylinder 38 having an internal sliding surface 44 of substantially uniform cross-section. A piston slides axially within the cylinder 38; and has a pushrod 22 rigidly secured to the piston, for engagement with a pivoting operating shaft 24. Wherein the piston is provided with a compliant peripheral seal to permit articulation of the piston as the pushrod 22 engages the operating shaft 24 during pivoting motion thereof. The compliant seal may have two sealing edges. The cylinder surface 44 may be a lining. The pushrod 22 may be integrally formed with the piston head. Further disclosed is an air actuated disc brake having the non pressurized section 62 of the actuator sealed to prevent ingress of contaminants. Still further disclosed are arrangements for securing the operating shaft 24 to the pushrod 22.
