Connection manager with deferred configuration

A method for configuring a mobile device (1 10) including a plurality of communication interfaces (225) is provided. A first one of the communication interfaces (225) is selected for establishing an initial connection to a first remote network (120). A user of the mobile device (1 10) is queried for configuration information related to the selected first communication interface (225). The mobile device (110) is connected to the first remote network (120) through the first communication interface (225). A loss of connectivity associated with the first communication interface (225) is identified. A second one of the communication interfaces (225) is selected for establishing a second connection to a second remote network (120). The user of the mobile device (110) is queried for configuration information related to the selected second communication interface (225). The mobile device (1 10) is connected to the second remote network (120) through the second communication interface (225).
