Tamper evident wristband fastener

A tamper evident wristband 4 fastener 1 features a pair of members 1a,1b, which may be hinged to each other 2, and carrying respectively a pin 7, and cooperating pin receptor 8. A portion of the pin 7 is provided with a weakened area, such as at the base of the pin 7 shaft, or a in circular line (18,fig5), such that tampering with the sealed fastener 1 results in a breakage of the fastener 1. A loop of the strap 4 may pass through apertures 3a, 3b such that the tightness of the strap 4 can be adjusted, and so that a portion of the strap 4 may be closed within the fastener 1. The pin 7 may feature annular grooves 7a for friction engagement within pin receptor 8. The arrangement may be used for a variety of identification purposes of people, such as in hospitals or entertainment venues.
