Vibration damping support brace for vehicle dashboard

A support frame 10 for supporting an instrument panel above a floor pan 12 of a motor vehicle includes a support brace 20 that is formed in two pieces 22, 23 that have an overlap section 25 between them forming a lap joint in which is located an elastomeric pad 27, 28 to dampen the transmission of low range vibrations through the support brace 20 to the instrument panel. The overlap section 25 is vertically spaced above the floor pan 12 to position the elastomeric pad 27, 28 away from any heat generated by a vehicle exhaust system located beneath the floor pan 12. The elastomeric pad 27, 28 may be a single piece, or may be made from several separate elastomeric segments separated by vertical spaces.
