Dynamic percent grade measurement device

A combination of components for the dynamic measurement of the grade of terrain, including a rocker arm 102 disposed horizontally across a reference structure which may be the wheel 101 of a motor vehicle, a first displacement transducer 104a positioned at the first end of the rocker arm, and a second displacement transducer 104b positioned at the second end of the rocker arm. An absolute angle measurement device (tilt sensor 106) is positioned on the reference structure to provide the angle of the rocker arm relative to earth horizontal. The measurement data may be used in an algorithm to calculate percent grade measurement of the terrain experienced at the wheel.
