Zusammenfassung: | A millimetre and sub-millimetre wave detection system comprising lenses 1, 2, 3, polarizing grid 4 acting as a beam splitter, first detector 5 having high sensitivity to radiation at a first wavelength with high atmospheric absorbency, second detector 6 having high sensitivity to radiation at a second wavelength with low atmospheric absorbency and processor 7. Scanning mechanism 10 comprising a rotatable prism deflects energy from an upper or a lower target region so that measurements from two different regions on the target can be obtained. Measurement differences at a given wavelength are compared to reference data obtained from test measurements and threshold values are used to determine if the target area contains an object of interest which is then indicated to an operator. A sky meter measures radiometric temperature of the sky at the second wavelength for calibration. |
