Method of running a tubing hanger and internal tree cap simultaneously

During the completion of a subsea horizontal tree 11, a tubing hanger 17 and internal tree cap 33 are run in together with the same running tool 45 and running string. The running tool has a linking assembly 53 that connects the tree cap to the tubing hanger within the cap passage 34 and hanger passage 19 by engaging internal profiles 43 and 44 during running, retrieval, or workover. The tubing hanger is set by the weight of the running string which transfers through running tool 45, to the tree cap 33 and to the tube hanger actuator 25 which forces the hanger locking member 23 into profile 24 (fig. 4). The tree cap has a similar locking mechanism with cap actuator 36 and locking member 35 which aligns with upper profile 37 after the retraction of spacer 52. Alternatively hydraulic pistons (55, fig. 6) may set actuator 25.
