Retention of an actuating spring in a one-way clutch

A one-way clutch for transmitting torque in one rotary direction comprise a cam plate 24 including notches 32 spaced angularly about an axis, a rocker plate 22 including pockets 28 spaced angularly about the axis. Rockers 26 are located in the pockets 28 and are urged into engagement with the notches 32 by springs 44 located in spring recesses 40. Each spring recess 40 has two retainers 250, 252 which retain each spring 44 in the recess 40. The retainers 250, 252 are semicircular protrusions which are spaced from a bottom surface 258 of the recess 40. An innermost leg (270, fig 22) of spring (144) is located in the space between the retainers 250, 252 and the surfaces 258. Each spring recess 40 is narrower at the bottom surface 258 than at an open end so as to produce a flared recess 40.
