Vehicle overhead console assembly having a drop down mirror assembly and a separate storage compartment

A vehicle overhead console assembly includes a console body 12 supporting a drop down mirror assembly 20 and one or more storage compartment. The drop down mirror assembly 20 comprises a support member 24 having a support panel 26 extending generally transverse from a door panel 22 and supporting a convex mirror 30. The drop down mirror assembly 20 is storable in a first (closed) position wherein the door panel 22 is generally flush with the console body and the support panel 26 is generally above the console body; it is linearly movable to a second position wherein the mirror 30 is generally below the console body. A linear drive mechanism (50, figure 3) may be provided to effectuate the linear travel of the drop down mirror assembly while a push-push latch mechanism may be used to maintain the drop down mirror assembly in the closed position.
