Vehicle seat with linkage assembly

A vehicle seat assembly 10 which is positionable in a vehicle passenger compartment and attachable to a vehicle floor 18. The seat assembly 10 includes a seat bottom 12, a seat back 14, and a five-bar linkage assembly 16 pivotally attaching the seat back 14 to the seat bottom 12. The five-bar linkage assembly 16 includes a forward linkage 40 pivotally connected to a first pivot point at the front of the seat bottom and a second pivot point on the vehicle floor, a rear linkage 60 pivotally connected to a third pivot point at the rear of the seat bottom and a fourth pivot point on the vehicle floor, and a folding linkage 80 pivotally connected to the third pivot point and a fifth pivot point. These allow movement of the vehicle seat assembly 10 from an upright to a folded assembly. Preferably the seat back moves from an upright position to a 0 degree angle folded position (see Figure 2). A latch may be provided for locking the seat back in various positions.
